What to include in an electrical quote

  • The exact scope of work. What you will do, where, and to what standard.
  • Labour and materials, line by line. Customers trust a price they can follow.
  • VAT, only if you are VAT-registered. With your VAT number; otherwise leave both out.
  • What is not included. Making good, builder's work, existing faults — said upfront.
  • How long the price is valid. Material prices move; 30 days is common.
  • Certification, where applicable. And Building Regulations notification where required.
  • Payment terms. Deposit, when the balance is due, and your bank details.
  • The customer's acceptance. A name, a signature and a date — before you start.

Questions

Is this electrical quote template really free?

Yes. Download it in Word, Excel or PDF and use it as often as you like. No account and no email needed.

What is the difference between a quote and an estimate?

In the UK a quote is usually a fixed price for the work described, while an estimate is a best guess that can change. Say clearly which one you are giving, and list what is not included.

Do I have to add VAT to my quote?

Only if you are VAT-registered. If you are not, delete the VAT line and the VAT registration number. GOV.UK explains when you have to register for VAT.

Can my customer accept the quote online?

With ElectricalVPF you can turn an accepted quote into a contract your customer signs online on their phone (PRO plan), and then into an invoice.
